Curriculum for English as a Second Languages Courses
 

 

For effective TOEFL preparation, institutional TOEFL tests are given monthly to further prepare students for the actual test. Three levels of ESL and TOEFL courses are offered to accommodate students of different proficiency levels. Students attend three hours of required instruction and one hour of laboratory instruction each day. Students may also attend computer classes on an optional basis.
 

- ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (100 SERIES)
- ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (200 SERIES)
- ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (300 SERIES)
- ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (400 SERIES)

 

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (100 SERIES)

Program Length: 48 Units ...... 720 Class Hours

Day Session: 36weeks (20hrs/wk)

Program Objective:

 

This program is designed for students whose primary language is other than English. Its purpose is to enhance Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Vocabulary Skills. Upon the completion of the program, the student will be able to communicate in both oral and written form. This versatility will facilitate the continuance of educational pursuits and enhance career advancement potential.

Program Length: 48 Units ...... 720 Class Hours

Day Session: 36weeks (20hrs/wk)

Program Objective:

This program provides dynamic, communicative practice that involves students in lively interactions based on the content of real-life situation. It aims to offer students broad exposure to the uses of language in a variety of relevant contexts: community, academic, employment, home, and social. Upon the completion of this program, the student will be able to communicate in both oral and written form without difficulty.

This program is designed for students whose primary language is not English. Students will enhance their vocabulary, speaking, writing and reading skills of English. Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to communicate in both oral and written forms. The Developing cognitive, academic language proficiency will enhance the students’ advancement potential in continuing their education and pursuing a career.

Program Objective:

This program is specially designed to help students to prepare for the TOEFL examination. It is divided into four sections: 1) Listening, 2) Structure/Writing, 3) Reading Comprehension, 4) Essay. Emphasis is placed on students acquiring the knowledge required to achieve a high TOELF score and on taking practice tests administered under conditions similar to those of the Actual TOEFL Examination.
